Discount codes, offers and gift cards
Percentages, buy-one-get-one, spend-more-save-more, and cards with a balance.
Shop, then Discounts. An offer is either a code somebody types at checkout or something that applies itself when the basket qualifies. It cannot be both, and it cannot be neither, because then nobody can answer “how does a customer actually get this”.
| Kind | What it does | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| A percentage off | Takes a percentage off everything it applies to. | A welcome code, a seasonal sale. |
| An amount off the order | A flat sum, spread across the basket. | “$10 off your first order”. |
| Free delivery | The carriage is nil. | A weekend push, or clearing slow stock. |
| Buy some, get some | Buy N of a set, get M of it free or reduced. The cheapest qualifying items are the ones given away. | Two for one on mugs. |
| Spend more, save more | Tiers: spend this, save that percent. The highest tier the basket clears wins. | Lifting the average order. |
| A set for one price | The whole named group together, for one figure. | A starter bundle. |
You can limit an offer by minimum spend, minimum number of items, how many times it can be used in total, and the dates it runs between. By default one offer at a time applies; tick “can be combined” if you want it to stack.
Gift cards are on the same page. Issue one for an amount, optionally to an email address, and it is sent with the code. It is spent at checkout like cash, and the balance comes down as it is used. Keep the codes safe: anybody who has one can spend it.
